Why We Chose Wood Valley

This is where we want to spend the rest of our lives! Besides the breathtaking beauty ...Having pure spring water on tap and rich volcanic soil at your feet is a rare commodity when you "LIVE" on the Big Island of Hawaii. At 2500, elevation, we aren't bothered with the usual pesky bugs found closer to the ocean, no torpedo flying cockroaches and the nights are still peaceful in the valley... yet to be invaded by the coqui frogs. The climate is very comfortable for those of us who love to play in the dirt and watch things grow. Plenty of sun and rain... not too hot and not too cold. Our home requires no air conditioning or fireplace. It is totally self sufficient with alternative energy which is very reassuring living in tropical weather conditions. Mother nature provides us with all the entertainment we need from the sweet aroma in the air, the melody of the birds, the quenching green flora, star studded nights and the magical valley that surrounds us. The town of Pahala offers all the conveniences of a grocery store, post office, gas station, hospital, library and school six miles away. The location is great since we like to snorkel and visit the west and east side of the island. The people are friendly, hardworking and show pride in their community. We could not desire for more!
